It's the hottest topic of the year. The New Zealand flag. I for one thing that all this talk about our flag needing a change is a load of rubbish. There is no reason why our flag needs to be changed, but think about the reasons why it doesn't need to be changed.Think about the money, think about what we have achieved under the current flag, and our current flag is perfect the way it is, plus, who would trust a man who likes to pull strangers ponytails?!?!?!?!
27 million dollars. That is how much it is going to cost to change our flag. I can think of so many more important things that money could be spent on could be spent on, and I reckon you probably could too. From small things like better funding into schools or better education for foreign drivers, to the bigger things like health care, feeding hungry children, improving New Zealand’s state houses or improving our ecological footprint to help keep the world under the crucial number of 350.
2 world wars, winning the rugby world cup, (twice I may add) plus countless world champion athletes, just to name a few things New Zealand has achieved under the current flag. Does anyone know what our nation achieved before 1902? I know I don’t, so if we don’t know what New Zealand achieved before we changed to the current flag, the next generation of kiwi’s won’t know all the things we have achieved under the current flag, which is probably our most successful century. (3 rugby world cup wins if the next couple of weeks go our way
New Zealand's flag is perfect the way it is. How many people actually know what New Zealand's flag represents? Not many is my guess. Well let me tell you. The blue represents the ocean surrounding the whole country, the southern cross represents our geographical location, and the Union Jack represents our ties with Britain. So really, our flag represents New Zealand perfectly. And it doesn’t need to be changed, because the 4 final designs pretty much only represent New Zealand, and not our ties with Britain.
In conclusion, I can only restate the fact that New Zealand’s flag does not need to be changed as there are so many better ways 27 million dollars could be spent on, we have achieved so much under the current flag and the design of our current flag represents us as a country perfectly,.. So do you think that ponytail pulling prime minister should be rethinking next year’s referendum now?
