The tall dark house loomed above me groaning and sqeaking as if it were possessed. Its shadow cast darkness over the overgrown garden, creating dark bad feeling. I crept slowly forward, towards the house. I looked back at the street, where my tormentors stood. I turned to them. “Come on guys, ill pay you each 50$ just let me go”. “Its too late” the leader of the three said. “You’ve set foot on the property and now you have to face the consequences”. “Yeah” one of the others said “You should have tried negotiating before you stepped on the property”. I sighed and slowly continued forward. As I reached the steps, I heard the two guys telling the ringleader that they should let him go he’s gone far enough. To my dismay he was resolute about me knocking three times on the door. I crept up the steps towards the door, and I finally stood on the patio before the door. It was old and rusted with ivory growing all over it. A little metal knocker was placed in the middle. Creepily it wasn’t rusted or overgrown with ivory at all. In fact it looked brand new. I reached out and clasped it in my sweaty hand. It was cold and solid. I knocked once, twice and then a third time. I waited, nothing happened. I removed my hand from the knocker and everything went hazy. I felt nauseous, like I was sick. I felt myself falling and then everything went black.
I woke to the smell of death and decay. The air smelt musty damp. In the blackness I could just make out that I was in a small room and I was slumped next to the door. My head hurt from when I had fallen unconscious. I slowly stood and looked around. The room was empty apart from a wardrobe at the back. I walked haltingly towards the wardrobe, my legs stiff from being on the hard floor for hours. I opened the wardrobe and glanced inside.I gasped in horror, there was a dead body in there! Suddenly it jerked as if it had been given an electric shock- and started to stand up. I backed away and tried to scream but no sound came out. It walked towards me its feet dragging on the floor with each step. My back hit the wall, I was trapped. I turned and desperatly tried to open the door but to no avail. I turned staring into empty eyesockets, bony fingers reached out for me like tendrils of mist. Just as it was about to grab me the door swung open knocking me to the ground. A dark figure burst through and tackled the zombie to the ground! I lept up and raced out the door before he could tackle me too. As I ran his voice coming after me, “There is one creature of legend in each room or corridor, watch out, watch out…” His words echoed in my mind as I tried to figure out what he meant. One creature of legend in each room or corridor? If so where was the one in this corridor? As if listening to my thoughts a warm furry hand grabbed my shoulder! I gasped in fear as it threw me to thr ground face first. I rolled over and found myself face to face with a snarling werewolf! Its breath smelt like rotton eggs as it leanded closer its jaws drooling. A blob of drool fell onto my the side of my face, it was warm and sticky. I decided I would have to try and escape. I kicked out hard with both legs smashing it in the face and knocking it to the ground. I lept to my feet and took off running down the corridor again. As I ran I passed lots of closed doors but I dared not enter them. I reached two anjoining corridors going left and right. I stopped, going into one of these would mean another monster to deal with and I wouldn’t be so lucky a second time. Behind me I heard the werewolf snarling and shuffling down the corridor after me. I had no choice I had to go down one of them, but which one? One might lead me to the exit while the other to my death. I chose right as i’m right handed and took off running. As I sprinted I heard a thud and something dropped down behind me. I looked over my shoulder and saw a big Orc charging after. Fear spurred me on and I soon lost the Orc. As I slowed down to a walk, that guy who had saved me from the zombie stepped out from a door on the left.I nearly fell over with fright at the sight of him. His clothes were torn and he was covered in blood and smelt like a swamp. “Its ok” he said as he brushed himself off. “I just got caught by a swamp monster and barely escaped with my life” he said to me. “ Who are you?” I said kepping my distance from him. “I am jim” said Jim “I got trapped in here 2 weeks ago and haven’t found away out yet.” he said. “Well I found the exit but its gaurded by a vampire, a goblin and two gargoyles!” I shuddered and said “But there is no other choice, we have to try.” “Oh belive me I have” Jim said “I always manage to take down the vampire and goblin and nearly one gargoyle but the other gargoyle always gets me” “Well now you have me we can work together” I said trying to give him some hope. “Ill take the goblin and one of the gargoyles and you take the vampire and the other gargoyle” He just nodded and took of running. Soon we were in sight of the main door, and he was right about who was gaurding it. The vampire and goblin stood gaurding two side passages while the gargoyles stood satring straight ahead in front of the door. “They wont leave the door he whispered to me heading for the vampire. I nodded and charged the goblin. I jumped on his back and tackled him to the ground. He rolled over and I punched him in the face continually until he was unconscious and not moving. I looked up and saw that Jim had taken down the vampire, now for the gargoyles. We each charged one and as we did the came to life and met our charge head on. We wrestled for about a minute before I managed to crack his head on the floor. I helped Jim finish off his one and we high-fived. Just as we had stepped out the door and into the moonlight a roar sounded and the Orc charged out and grabbed Jim by the legs. I held on to his hands but he yelled at me, “Go get out of here, dont worry about me” and shoved me away. In doing so the door slammed shut and he was gone forever. As I walked towards the road, the cold bit into me hard and I shivered. I had one last final look at the house of horrors and as I looked I saw a pair of gleaming eyes on the second floor appear for a few seconds and then dissapear.
I stumbled home and climbed into bed and tried to get to sleep but the memories kept flooding back and I got the feeling someone was watching me. I climbed out of bed and looked left down the hallway, nothing. I looked right, Gleaming yellow eyes greeted me, just inches away from my face. Hot breath hit my face and the it lunged at me. The last thing I saw was sharp teeth approaching and the redness of its mouth. I woke up hot and sweaty from my dream, about it in my house, the haunted house had been real but luckily not the werewolf in my house. The first rays of dawn sunlight shone through the window giving the room a golden glow. I stretched and had breakfast, continuing my life as if nothing had happened. But every time I started to doubt that i’d ever been in that house I had that same dream about the werewolf in my house.
One night a loud howl woke me from sleep. I looked out the window and saw nothing. I turned around to find the werewolf standing in front of me. I knew it wasn't a dream this time. But before I could scream for my parents it lunged at me and life ended. The next day her parents found her missing and called the police, although the search lasted 3 weeks her body was never found and the truth has yet to be revealed.
