The house sat alone, dark and looming in the otherwise nice neighborhood. Even with our lightest footsteps, the front porch steps creaked under our feet. Our quick knock on the door echoed, bouncing around the tree-shadowed driveway. There was no answer, so we pushed, and the big, old fashioned door creaked open. Nervous snickers emerged from our group of 6, and there were calls of oohhs and ghostly moans to scare each other. Now, this isn’t the general entertainment activity that teens in my town do on a Friday night, but it isn’t unheard of either. We wandered down the long hallway, lit only by the torches on our smartphones. “Here it is!!” whispered Isabella, referring to the famous room someone was said to come to their bloody, gory death inside of. We rammed open the door with our shoulders, and as soon as we got inside a black shadow swept at us, knocking me to the ground.

I woke up, relieved that it was just a dream, and looked around. Wait. It wasn’t a dream. My limbs were tied up, and so were all my friends. We were in a room with brown walls with dark red marks. I screamed, awakening my friends, and we mulled over the situation. Suddenly, a light flicked on, and we saw the truly terrible state of the walls and floors. We also saw a black shadow hovering in the the corner. “What is this? What’s with the red everywhere?!” Cried Paul, looking around wildly. The shadowy figure spoke in an old, raspy voice. “It’s the blood of the ones before you.”
