What has happened to Xavier?
The yellow grass crunched beneath my feet, I looked down. The ground looked like there had been an earthquake in ant village.
I hobbled along in silence, my cane tapping the ground like a tap dancer's shoe on concrete.
"Grandpa look da car!" My grandchild Xavier said. "Well child in my days we called them automobiles and they didn't come in cool fancy colours like that one."
His small delicate hand slipped onto my old wrinkled, liver-spotted hand.
"Tell me more about the mortabiles grandpa."
I chuckled and started explaining.
Chapter two
WEE WOO WEE WOO!!!
Went the sound of ambulances piercing the night silence.
They were close, very close to the old man's daughters house.
I'd better go see what's wrong. He thought.
Red lights were blaring, as well as the sobs of heart broken people. And on the middle of the road was the broken form of his grandson Xavier.
A week later…
“Dad you need to eat, we’re all upset but…” Started his daughter, mother of Xavier.
“I can’t eat I just can’t, my only grandson dead…” He said his eyes welling up with tears, the funeral was in a couple of hours.
The girl sighed and tossed her matty hair, she hadn’t brushed it in a week. Her husband walked into the room. “You should just tell him Annie you won’t keep it a secret any longer he’ll notice.”
“Ok if I have to.” Replied Annie sighing.“Daddy.”
The old man looked up. “Yes dear.”
“There’s something I need to tell you…” She started but she was cut off by her youngest daughter.
“Mummy, mummy come quick!!!”
The girl of six, identical to her mother was out of breath.
“What is it Payton?” She questioned her breathless daughter.
“It’s Xavier, he, he, he’s…”
But she didn’t finish her mother was already out the door.
